A Brief History
Sun Belt Transportation, Inc. is a privately owned business, managed by the Cumberworth family. Originally started in 1942 to operate and lease equipment to the local industries, the company has grown to a prominent position as a long haul, truckload carrier serving the transportation needs of all industries. Headquarters are located in Brownsville, Texas, next to the deepwater port of Brownsville. The company is composed of Sun Belt Transportation, J. and G. Truck and Trailer Repair and Santa Fe Brokerage. The transportation company maintains approximately 100 late-model power units (mostly Kenworth) and roughly 500 trailers. The majority of the trailer equipment is 53-foot "air-ride" vans, with 35 flatbed trailers and 35 refrigerated units making up the remainder. J. and G. Truck and Trailer Repair facilities are capable of handling all major tractor and trailer repairs. Many other local trucking companies bring their equipment to J. and G. because of the high quality workmanship and prompt service.
